CHAPTER 5
Exclusive Bonus ContentMom & I

My Brat!

Mom and Alan Jackson.

Mom at Christmas
A song I wrote for my amazing mom, the Queen of Christmas, Mom at Christmas
A Black Friday Collage!

A black Friday collage! Mom and I used to go out every year on black Friday in our matching flake t-shirts. We’d buy for well over 30 kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. It was nuts but she loved it. My mom is indeed the queen of Christmas.
First iPhone Pic

The first picture I took on my first-ever iPhone. Mom and I at Red Lobster. Extra tartar sauce for our shrimp, please!
Home

This is the house my mom and I moved into after the divorce. I wasn’t much, but we had each other and a dream to make it great.
Where the Streets Have No Name.
This song takes me back, rolling down the highway in a Subaru Brat, a broken kid with a dream of becoming something more.
And it’s wild to me that I have my own bus now.

Here is Mom posing with it.
The buses lined up outside a stadium.

o me they were just so awesome.
Scotty?

I think this guy was Scotty? If you are out there hit me up!
This is Lawrence Anderson!

One of U2’s amazing crew. Lawrence is the one who called with the idea about learning the projectors. The time he took to help a struggling kid has made a massive difference in my life. Thanks pal!
What an incredible tour.

I can still hear the music when I look at pictures like this.
Groundbreaking video screens

See the video screens behind the tower in the middle. This was groundbreaking, and it really caught my eye. I’m so glad that it did!
U2 Show

During my time with U2, I usually slept through the shows, but I did sneak in a few times and took some pics with a disposable camera.
Getting into the city…

Probably the same day, it looks like we are getting into the city. I logged so many miles following those buses. I almost fell asleep driving more times than I care to share.
The brat on the side of the highway…

When they had days off they sometimes traveled during the day. The bunny on the dash was from my mom. She gave it to me to keep me company. It’s funny, I just bought her a stuffed bunny for easter. I’ll be giving it to her this week. I’ll be with her easter Sunday, two days before my book comes out. Easter night I will head down to New York City to do some P.R. including being on NBC News Daily. I love that I am kicking off book launch week with my mom!
Same house

And believe it or not here is that same house. I lived here from age seven until 19. I loved this home. It was so hard to part with it, but I drive by now and think how cool it is that a new family is making memories there.
