CHAPTER 8
Exclusive Bonus ContentPeter Frampton

Peter grinning at a show; he is just one of the nicest people ever.
Rockstar!

I mean… hell yes, rockstar!
Pinching myself.

I pinch myself that I get to work with Peter. His was literally the first album that I ever owned. Decades later I get to be on his team. He is just the greatest human.
30′ Alan Jackson!

There it is, the 30’ Alan Jackson image at his show. This would be easy nowadays, it was quite a thing back then. I am so proud of this.
Country Boy Music Video Direction

Speaking of proud, I am so proud that Alan asked me to take this picture with him. We were filming the Country Boy music video; it was a great day. I thought Alan looked amazing.
Watch: Country Boy – Alan Jackson
Sorry about the quality. I wish the labels would upload better versions. This was way before 4k. Man, I miss directing music videos.
Garth, Trisha, and I

Garth, Trisha, and I, as we were all doing his incredible flood relief shows in 2010.
Lee Griffin

My mentor Lee Griffin and I. This man had an incredible impact on my life. I miss him. Every now and then, I still ask him what he thinks about how Moo TV is doing. I sense that he is very proud. I love ya, pal.

Look at that crowd!

Just look at these amazing pics of Peter from back in the day. Mind you this was over a decade before video. They were all just digging the music.

Peter Frampton

Frampton Live

Rock Icon

Can you imagine what this was like back before cell phones and social media? The only thing they knew you for was the music.
How incredible to fill a stadium back then.

Another great pc of Alan’s massive screen that first year. This is for the song Little Bitty. I laid post it notes with words and references to the song along with polaroids on a table and took a high-res photo. Then I used my edit system to put images from the songs music video in the polaroids. This was my video background. Then at the show we programed live video to bounce from polaroid to polaroid with a white flash. This was pretty cutting edge in concept and implementation back then. I’m just proud that it looked great.

Moo TV production of Alan Jackson’s “Country Boy” video in Lebanon on Sunday, November 2, 2008.
Australia

Alan live in Australia. I had retired from directing Alan at this point, but they asked me out to be the photographer. I loved it, and I loved Australia.
18 hours!

Another pic from those Australian shows. The crowds down there are amazing. They are so appreciative that people are willing to fly halfway around the world to see them. The flight is 18 hours!
The shot

This shot made it all worthwhile. I was lying on my belly, crawling across the stage to line Alan up with the spotlight beam. He turned around and looked at me, wondering what the hell I was doing, then he told me to get off his stage. I didn’t, at least not yet. A minute later, I got this shot and left. Later, he called me on the bus and asked what the hell I was doing down there. I told him I had a picture that he would thank me for someday. He didn’t seem impressed.
A year later, he asked me if this was the picture I was taking. Yup, I replied. Well, if it’s OK with you, we are going to use it as the back cover of my 30 Miles West album. “I love it,” I said. Alan replied, “Thank you,” with a huge grin.
Look at this guy!

Speaking of Australia, I met this guy down there. How cute is he? Before you answer that, know that moments after this picture was taken, he pooped right into my hand that was holding his bottom. He locked eyes with me the whole time he did it. I tried to shift my grip and escape the mess, but he wasn’t happy about the loss of stability, so he dug those claws into me. We both froze until he finished his business. GROSS!
So, back to the initial question, how cute is he? The answer is amazingly cute, because I looked at it right after, and I couldn’t even be mad.
Red Rocks

I took this pic at Red Rocks, same trick kind of… line up the spotlight. If you haven’t seen a band you love at Red Rocks in Colorado, go do it! It’s the most amazing venue in the world
Sissy’s Song

Another shot of directing Alan through the Sissy’s Song video.

The Chattahootchie video. I didn’t direct this one, but it’s too iconic not to include.

Hall of Fame induction. This was such an incredible evening. Alan and I connected after his speech and had a wonderful chat full of gratitude on both sides. Alan’s part starts at 31:30.

Lee / MooTV

Here’s the famous chair back in an article. I think I have it somewhere. I’m moving right now, and I hope to find it and frame it for my office. That quirky moment branded the 30 years since.
Young Scott

Young Scott at an arena somewhere, getting ready for an Alan show.
That mullet!

Directing Alan Jackson Live

Getting ready to direct Alan Jackson’s show as I did for the better part of two decades. We would move this portable TV studio, along with all the screens and cameras, to a different city every night. From the background, I can see that we are set up on the side of the stage. We often were. I love that I have spent most of my life literally just outside of the spotlight.
Directing Live Show

On each small monitor, I would see what the camera saw, and with the headsets, I would talk to everyone and direct the action. Most people experience the show through the screens. I was so honored to curate that experience. I am sure that I have directed over 1,000 Alan Jackson shows. If you figure there were an average of 10,000 people a night, then I presented Alan to 10 million people. What an honor.
Great reviews

The reviews were so great!
Take Us To Church

Another great shot of Alan’s show that first year. He is singing a gospel song here. The stained glass was a beautiful backdrop, and it takes us to church.
Changing it up

Here is Alan’s show from a different year. Every year, we would change it completely to keep it fresh for the audience.
Lee & I

Here’s lee and I in the pre-Moo TV days. He was a great man and mentor.
CMA Fest

Lee standing in the Tennessee Titans Stadium as we are prepping for CMA Fest (previously Fan Fair). He was sooo proud of that show every year. We all were.
Tribute

Just a year later, we were rolling a tribute to Lee on the screens at CMA fest. What a loss. I love and miss that guy a whole bunch.
In Memory of Captain Video

One of Lee’s friends had a backstage pass made to memorialize Lee’s passing. I wore it to every show for years.
Pollstar Awards

Holding one of the dozen or so Pollstar Awards that we have won. It’s incredible to me that we have become an industry leader, having won that award more years than not. We even won 10 years in a row at one point. How cool is that? Awards like that belong to everyone at the company. It’s our incredible crew that makes it all happen, and I am so lucky to be the guy who stands on stage to receive the hardware.
Moo Racing

Fun aside, with our success, we did some fun things. One year we sponsored a racecar in something called Brooks N Dunn’s Metal Rodeo. All the stars would compete and actually drive. We had a cow spotted car and got Faith Hill to drive. While we wouldn’t cross the finish line first, I would argue that every race with Faith Hill as your driver makes you a winner. Especially when she hugs you. I love her.
The Pollstars started adding up!

We win again!

Another Parnelli

And again with the Parnelli.
Parnelli Award

We have also had the honor of winning the other industry award, the Parnelli, quite a few times.
New client!

Oh, and of course, we had lots of other clients. This guy was rapidly becoming a huge part of Moo TV. More on him later.
Public Speaking

Remember my fear of public speaking? Here I am standing onstage in front of 18,500 fans at the new Las Vegas arena. The screen behind me usually had my big head on it, but I shared this picture as the reverse shot in the screen shows the massive crowd. As I said I was terrified… until I actually stepped into the spotlight, then somehow I just loved it. Thank you for the opportunity Garth.
The Moo Warehouse

The Moo TV warehouse. A 68,000 square foot warehouse overflowing with the gear needed to keep dozens of tours on the road.
Small Business of the Year

This was fun; we won Small Business of the Year for Nashville. Again, I get to be the face; the people at Moo TV are the reason.
MooTV.com

Moo TV’s website. We actually don’t update the website much. We are in a position where people know who we are, so it’s not much of a sales tool.
